Who are we?

Welcome to the French babylab group!

What is a babylab?

We are part of academic research laboratories (CNRS, INSERM, INRAE, Universities) where we study toddlers and their cognitive abilities (perception, language, communication, memory, social skills...). We use numerous techniques adapted to infants, to assess their interest in certain stimuli (auditory, visual, tactile...) by measuring their gaze, their behaviors, and also to assess their brain development by measuring the electrical activity of neurons or changes in oxygenation at their scalp level, thus revealing their neuronal activity for these stimuli.

In France, over 10 laboratories are now focusing on infants' skills, and this number continues to grow every year! Here's the latest list of baby labs in France. If we've missed you, send us an e-mail (see contact).

Every year, all these laboratories meet to discuss the latest discoveries on infant development in all these different fields. We'll be updating information about this annual meeting on this website.
